Architecture built from the ground up

Nick began his career swinging a hammer — a builder's apprentice who learned what makes a structure stand, breathe, and last. That foundation in craft is what sets Minimal Architecture apart from every firm that has only ever drawn buildings.

From tools to drawings

Nick started where most architects never do — on site, in the dust, building the things others had designed.

Years as a qualified builder gave him an instinct that no degree alone can teach: an understanding of how materials move, how structures behave, and how the gap between a drawing and a finished building is where most disappointment lives.

In 2010, that practical foundation became the engine of an architectural practice. Minimal Architecture was born from the belief that the best design is honest design — spaces shaped by how people actually live, not by what looks good on a render.

Based in Tauranga and working across the Bay of Plenty and beyond, Nick brings a rare dual perspective to every project: the vision of an architect and the pragmatism of a builder who has held the tools himself.

Design philosophy
"Great design doesn't clamour for attention. It simply offers a sense of being."

Every project begins with deep listening — to the site, to the light, and to the people who will inhabit the space. Minimal Architecture doesn't impose a style; it reveals what a space could be. Through meticulous material selection, considered proportions, and a quiet attention to detail, the result is architecture that feels inevitable — rooted, sincere, and subtly transformative
